Located on a small rocky islet at the mouth of the Couesnon River (near the city of Avranches) you can find the Mont Saint Michel, about one kilometer away from the north coast of France in the English Channel. The islet is an about one-kilometer-diameter clump of rocks inside the water with a Benedictine Abbey and a steepled church, made from the 11th to the 16th century.
Mont Saint Michel is located between Normandy and the border of Brittany in France. Today you can visit the small city with about 50 inhabitants and parts of the cloister and church.
